The City provides water, sewer, and garbage service to city and water and sewer service to certain non-city residents. The City’s utility billing division is responsible for reading water meters, preparation of the utility bills, receipt of the utility bill payments and dealing with customer inquiries. Specific billing information is as follows:
SERVICE ACTIVATION –
Utility service can be activated by going into the utility billing customer service office located in the Town of Mountain City Town Hall building on Donnelly Street in downtown Mountain City. You must provide the service address, the address you would like the bills to be mailed to, the date you would like service to start, your social security number and a driver’s license. Service may start on the same day, if you apply for service by 3:00 P.M.
BILLING FREQUENCY –
The City bills all utility customers on a monthly basis. Utility bills are mailed by the City each month and are due on the specifed due date. If the account remains unpaid, late payment penalty fees and service interuption is possible.
PAYMENT OPTIONS –
The City accepts utility payments (cash, check, or money order) through the mail, over the counter in the utility billing customer service office at City Hall, in a drop box located on the left as you enter the City Hall building drive-thru from Donnelly Street. The City can also arrange direct debit payments from your checking or savings accounts. If you are interested in Direct Debit, please call city hall for more information.
Please note: utility accounts are not considered paid until the City has received the payment. Mail postmarks are not considered when determining when an account has been paid.
