Mountain City is located in Johnson County Tennessee in the Appalachian Mountain chain. The elevations in the county range from 1800 to 5000 feet above sea level. The elevation of Mountain City is 2350 feet above sea level. Mountain City has the highest elevation of any city in Tennessee.
From Boone NC
Take 421 North to Mountain City.(Approx. 25 minutes)
From Abingdon VA take Hwy 58 east to Damascus then take hwy 91 south to Mountain City (Approx. 35 minutes)
From Bristol TN/VA Take Interstate 81 north to exit 19 turn right at the end of exit ramp then take Hwy 58 east to Damascus then take hwy 91 south to Mountain City (Approx. 45 minutes)
From Elizabethton / Johnson City Take hwy 321/67 south to Hampton TN. Turn Left onto hwy 67 east follow hwy 67 for approx 30 miles to Mountain City (Approx. 40 minutes)
June 29th- “4th of July Celebration Event & Fireworks Show”. The event will start at 11am and go all day with games, fun, and food. Opening Ceremonies begin at 6pm at Ralph Stout Park, with live music, dancing & Fun for everyone!
July 20th- Annual Mountain City Sunflower Festival- held on Main and Church Streets in Beautiful Downtown Mountain City, Tennessee 9am-5pm. Arts, crafts, wide variety of food vendors, antiques, Native-American Art, African Art, Yard Art, Metal Works, live music, square-dancing, sunflower judging contests, kiddie area with Wet Slide, face-painting, train rides, games, bouncy houses, annual beauty pageant, Quilt show, ‘cruise in’ with the Johnson County Cruiser’s (antique, vintage, and muscle car club), and lots of fun for the entire family.For more information call (423)727-1950
